Last weekend was the epitome of the perfect Spring day in the South. The weather was gorgeous, warm enough to be comfortable and no humidity yet!
We have been celebrating (F)easter (Fake Easter) for 4 years now. My sister and her husband live in Chicago and spend Easter with his family up there. We LOVE holidays in the Hewitt family so we couldn’t stand the thought of not celebrating together. Whitney and Bob have been really great about flying down to Charlotte the last 4 years to celebrate Feaster and also my Dad’s birthday which usually falls around Feaster too.
Saturday morning the guys played golf while me and Whitney enjoyed sleeping in and then going on a nice long walk in Dilworth. I was very quick to point out each and every home for sale (PLEASE MOVE BACK!!!). After that, we headed to our parents house in Matthews to help prepare the Feaster lunch. My mom always goes out of her way to make everything perfect. The table looked like it was out of a magazine and the food was absolutely delicious. I contributed the deviled eggs, the only item I really know how to make.
After dinner we began the Great Egg Hunt of 2014. My dad always does a great job of hiding the eggs in the backyard. This year the hiding places were a little harder than normal. The challenge is always fun for a while, but my sister and I always end up wanting to play the “hot/cold” game to get clues on where our remaining eggs are.
This year it took some of us a little longer than the others to find all of their eggs, but whose counting? #brotherinlawprobz
We spent the rest of the night playing cornhole and other various games. Definitely a Feaster for the record books!
Sunday was my sweet Dad’s birthday. We all met at Vivace for a delicious birthday brunch. Vivace is always a great go-to and the views of uptown from the porch are wonderful. We haven’t been a few months and were surprised to find they now how an unlimited Bloody Mary bar.
Part of our present to Dad was tickets to the Knights game on Sunday afternoon. The Knights just moved into their new stadium uptown and we were excited to be able to get tickets to opening weekend. The ballpark is beautiful and has the most wonderful views of the city behind it. We were all thoroughly impressed by the selection of food (Salsarita’s, Just Fresh, BBQ, Chick-fil-a, Domino’s) and all of the craft beer selections.
The Knights pulled out a WIN which made the afternoon even better! After the game, we headed back to my house for birthday cake and to watch the end of the Masters. I’m proud to say that I won our fantasy draft this year….go Bubba!
Im such a humble winner….
HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD!!!! SO glad we all got to celebrate together! I know this is going to be your best year yet and am wishing you all the health and happiness in the world! We love you!!
